The best natural parks in the vicinity of the Costa Dorada

Parc Natural de la Serra del Montsant

This massif is characterised by its abrupt relief of rounded forms. Impressive rock walls, with peaks up to 1,163 metres high, make up its most recognisable silhouette. Throughout history the Montsant natural park has also had a significant spiritual presence. The name itself translates as Holy Mountain and one of the best examples can be found in the Cartoixa de Santa Maria d'Escaladei Carthusian monastery, which dates back to 1194 and is a National Monument.




 

Parc Natural dels Ports

A park that is characterised by its two different climates, which provide rich biodiversity for more than a thousand botanical species. On the one hand, the influence of the Mediterranean climate stands out, while the other exhibits more continental conditions. In addition, it includes the Partial Natural Reserve of the Hayedos de Els Ports and features the largest Spanish goat reserve in the country.

Paraje Natural de Poblet

This protected area includes the surroundings of Poblet, one of Europe's most important Cistercian monasteries. It marks the origin of the Francolí, one of the main rivers in the province of Tarragona, and is also home to the only melojo oak forest in Catalonia.

Parc Natural del Delta de l’Ebre

This is the largest aquatic habitat in Catalonia. This unique space formed by the mouth of the Ebro River is home to hundreds of species, especially birds.

Sèquia Major

This 17.3 hectare wetland, the one of greatest interest between the Llobregat Delta and the Ebre Delta, is located right next to INFINITUM's Lakes golf course. It was declared a Protected Natural Area in 1992 and is a passage and stopover point for migratory birds. It is also home to endangered species such as the fartet fish and the European pond turtle. This area is open to visitors between the months of August and February.




 

Masía Blanca Marine Reserve

You can find this 457 hectare marine reserve running alongside a large sandy beach in the municipality of Coma-Ruga. In its unusual depths, with both rugged and sandy areas, we find Posidonia meadows and various species of fish and invertebrates.

Serra de Llaberia

Thanks to its landscapes and the multiple routes it offers, this mountain chain has become a paradise for hikers and nature lovers. Its main peak is the Mola de Colldejou (921 m), from which visitors can enjoy magnificent panoramic views.

Muntanyes de Prades

This is a protected natural space in which we find the Poblet natural area and the partial nature reserves of Titllar and Trinitat.
