The Swiss national team returns to INFINITUM for winter training
INFINITUM, the high-end resort located on the Costa Dorada, has been hosting the Swiss Golf Federation since the end of January, following the decision to select this resort for its winter training sessions for the second year running. The group, made up of 68 players and 12 coaches, is preparing for a successful season in national and international events, including the Copa del Rey that will be held at INFINITUM between late February and early March.
The INFINITUM facilities, which have 45 holes distributed over three golf courses, have been considered the best in Europe in the latest editions of the World Golf Awards and hold Audubon International Golf Signature Sanctuary certification.
Richard Adby, Swiss National Coach, explains that “the two championship courses have notable differences, but they are very well maintained, especially their greens, so they offer us excellent training opportunities on DP World Tour level courses".
He adds, “the Ruins 9-hole course is ideal for course-specific and situational strategy training, while the short game areas and putting green at Lakes are at an optimal level that meet all our players' needs".
Another important aspect to take into account, which the Swiss team coach emphasises, is the fact that "it is very difficult to find top-level facilities in Europe where you have the opportunity to take on different challenges thanks to two first-rate courses and training facilities”, says Adby.
As an added bonus, during sessions players can enjoy the views and the modern and traditional cuisine of the Mediterranean. However, they'll still need to spend time on INFINITUM's challenging golf courses to prepare to compete in important events such as the European Team Championships in July or the World Amateur Championships to be held at the end of the year in Abu Dhabi.
NEW DIRECTOR OF GOLF
In addition, the high-end resort has just welcomed Joaquín Mora Bertrán as its Director of Golf, who takes on the management of the three golf courses and the two clubhouses, as well as the academy. Mora is an alumnus of the second edition of the CME Master in Golf Course Management and has developed an extensive career related to the world of golf: from his status as a professional player and coach in this sport, to the management of Catalana Golf, one of Spain's leading golf tournament and event organisation companies.
In the words of Joaquín Mora, “my objective as the new Director of INFINITUM Golf is to create a first-class golf experience in the incomparable setting of this high-end resort that also has some of the most comprehensive golf facilities in Europe".
