Swiss national team sets up camp at INFINITUM for winter training
February 2022, Tarragona: The Swiss National Team has hailed Infinitum as the perfect destination for its players to prepare for the season ahead following an 56-day stay at Europe’s Best Golf Venue.
With 45-holes of championship golf, alongside pristine practice facilities and a complete broader lifestyle offering, Infinitum has proved the perfect venue for Alexandre Chopard and his players, who welcomed the opportunity to escape the cold back home and replicate Tour-quality conditions.
Chopard, a coach for the Swiss National Team said: “It was really nice for us to come from the snow to a golf course where you can actually play. The players love the challenges that Infinitum offers. There are three different courses, offering different levels and difficulties of holes, so you can choose which one you want to play. The variety of golf is great and it’s a fantastic way to start to the season testing yourself against different challenges.
“This is a place where you can come with a group of players and arrange exactly what you need for the team. That’s something we have found extremely beneficial for us. We wanted to practice pitching on the range and the team put a dedicated area just for us to use. So, of course we are going to recommend that, and we haven’t seen a cloud the whole week and we’re in January!
“The accommodation is great too and to live in such a community, it is really special. Normally, we stay in a hotel, so one or two per room, but here you have a real team spirit and we really enjoy it. Infinitum has been really helpful in setting up the perfect conditions to practice so it has been a very good experience and we’re excited to come back.”
The Swiss players are the latest in a long line of elite amateur squads who have travelled to Infinitum to practice in recent years – including Iceland, Sweden and Germany. Having also hosted the DP World Tour’s Qualifying School Final from 2017-19, Infinitum’s reputation as a host for elite golfers continues to grow.
Pablo Guerrero Jaureguizar, Golf Guest Service Manager said: “We have been delighted to host the Swiss players this past month and it has been great to hear so much positive feedback from the team and coaches. At Infinitum, the quality and variety of the on-site experience is something we pride ourselves on and are always looking to evolve. Welcoming elite level golfers is a great way to showcase this, but we are also proud of the playability and accessibility we offer to golfers of any standard and look forward to welcoming players as the season gets under way.”
